This is a place where I will capture my night time forays into the gas stations, all-night diners, truck stops, 24 Hour Big Boxes, and other institutions of the American Midwest.
In truth, I do not live IN Oconto, Wisconsin as the name of this...whatever this is...suggests. But I do live NEAR Oconto, and it was a late night stop at a convenience store in Oconto, where three locals in line ahead of me were busy reading, slowly and aloud, the names of all the deli items available for purchase, that has inspired me to do this.
Oconto is my template, an archetype for small towns everywhere, where those seeking an orderly and convenient life stay indoors after sundown.
